Dear incoming interns,

Welcome to the HIVE Lab! We are delighted to welcome you to the GlyGen-CFDE Internship Program at George Washington University. We are excited to work with you from June 3 to July 26. During these eight weeks, you will be working on projects involving the analysis of glycans and proteins using bioinformatics tools. This experience is designed to improve your technical skills and provide you with a comprehensive insight into the applications of bioinformatics research related to knowledgebase development and use.

In this page you can find some important information regarding Ross Hall and our lab, onboarding process, as well as your responsibilities during your time here.

Before joining the lab:

GWorld IDs and I-9 Forms

Prior to joining the lab, all visitors and contractors must be sponsored by a university department and have a GWid number. All interns should have received their GWid number in their offer letter from HR as well as instructions on how to complete their I-9 forms that they have received. Once the forms are sent, interns can pick up their temporary GWorld ID on their first day.

Metro Access

The GWU - Foggy Bottom campus is served by a myriad of public transit options, including the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metrorail Station (Blue, Silver and Orange Lines), numerous Metrobus routes, & commuter buses from Maryland & Virginia.

Metro, Metrobus, & the Circulator are all accessible via a SmarTrip card. You can get your SmarTrip card at the station or via your phone.

Ross Hall Access

Interns are required to complete a series of in-person/online training and forms in order to receive Ross Hall Access in their GWorld Card upon arrival. The forms were attached in the link to the Drive shared in the onboarding email. If all trainings are completed in advance, access can be granted through their GWID numbers prior to getting their ID cards.
