The GO Annotation section of the Protein details page in GlyGen provides Gene Ontology (GO) terms associated with the protein that fall into three categories: Molecular Function, Cellular Component, and Biological Processes.

GO Annotation

Only five top level annotations are shown on the details page whereas a link to the QuickGO database is provided for the other annotations for each category.

GO Annotation in GlyGen is presented three categories i.e. Biological Process, Cellular Component, and Molecular Function.

Molecular function represents the elemental activities of a gene product at the molecular level, such as binding or catalysis as described by the Gene Ontology. chemoattractant activity (GO:0042056) Cellular component is a part of a cell or its extracellular environment where a gene product may be located. Eg. extracellular region (GO:0005576) Biological process is a change or complex of changes on the level of granularity of the cell or organism that is mediated by one or more gene products. Eg. activation of MAPK activity (GO:0000187)
